week one in beautiful Estes Park Colorado:
There is only one word to describe this place....breath-taking. The mountains that surround this little town have been freshly covered with snow as of yesterday. At camp you can look out at the "mummy range", which is a series of peaks that look like a mummy laying down (if you have a creative eye!). These peaks include Chapin, Chiquita, Yipslon, Fairchild, Hauges and mummy. Most of these mountains are 13.000 feet and seem to loom at you in the distance! Oh it is absolutely gorgeous. see below:
As far as camp goes: it is spectacular. I am living in a cabin called "power house" with 7 other girls. There are 4 rooms, with bunk beds, and a lounge area with a couch, and of course a shower and bathroom. It is a fun little cabin, but can get very cold at night for lack of any kind of heater. I know all of you back in fallon can not even imagine needing a heater at this point in the year, but here, it gets VERY cold at night. I am going to guess in the low forties! SO the only coping mechanism is to climb into your sleeping bag (with socks on) and then pull every possible blanket over the top of you. You are very toasty after that! Camp has been amazing so far too. right now we are just doing staff trainging: how to deal with campers, make a good role model, and for me, how to do some camper laundry! not the most interesting task, but I plan on making it very fun! The campers dont get here until wednesday, so for now we are just gearing up for their arrival! I cant wait! The other counselors this year are amazing as well. Lots of them are old friends to me, and it is so interesting to see how we are all changing over the years! Oh growing up....what an over-rated idea! :)
I hope Fallon is treating everyone well, stay cool! But definitely soak up some of that sun for me!
p.s. the red and white building is the Stanley Hotel where the Shining and Dumb and Dumber was filmed!
p.s.s. Rey: Bare Naked Ladies are playing on the radio in the amazing coffee shop I am in. made me think of you!
I love you all and hope your summers are going fantastic!

wow, what a great surprise to see your blog up and going already. I can't tell you how much we all miss you. everyday I turn and look for your smiling face, and I have to conjure it up from memory instead. But since I have so many of those, good memories, I hope it will last me until you return.
Have a wonderful adventure, we will live it through your eyes and words. luvyasu.
